There is something about the Razorine Double Edge Shavette Razor that really intrigues me. Not only is it a DE safety razor / shavette hybrid; it is proudly made in Italy, 100 percent in fact.
The Razorine logo in cursive is between the handle and the head, and exact distinction of the razor being "made in Italy" is engraved on the head as well. There are 2 finishes, chrome and raw brass, with the one in this post being the latter. Its not an exactly perfectly finished razor in terms of shine, grain, etc, but that is what adds to it's charm. It adds to its old-time look, and I quite appreciate it.
The manual interaction of turning the lock-nut anti-clockwise to release the safety bar of the razor head, in order to load the DE Blade, then tightening everything back up, really brings things back to basics.
I can see why this shavette is Deeply Loved Worldwide. It speaks to the traditional wet shaver, and to those who are used to shavette shaving.
Shaving with this razor was a somewhat straight-forward process. Unlike most shavettes, whereby there is one straight edge, usually with half a DE blade or loaded with an Artist club blade, the razor head on this hybrid is just like a DE razor. In essence, its very easy to load an every day blade, and very hard to cut yourself or make a significant mistake, due to the safety bar on the head. The curved DE head also helps with finding the natural edge of the razor, which guarantees a fantastic, super BBS shave.
3 shaves in with this safety razor, and I can say that the only mistake I made with this razor was stuff up my left side-burn, shaving it clean off. It is super easy to shave with, under the neck, WTG, XTG, ATG. A pleasure to just take the time with, have a sip of Glenfiddich 18yo, and then go with the flow. I have to say, this thing is so much fun to shave with.
A true Authentic Italian shaving experience.
